End of Autumn update

It has been a pretty dry Autumn so far, so the water level in the creek is particularly low. We have been regularly watering the plants that I am trying to establish higher up on the banks, hopefully in the next couple of weeks we will get enough rain so that they will be fine without the extra attention.

So far all the plantings are surviving and growing, the lomandra and sedge grasses in particular seem to be going gangbusters. I gave everything a feed with a native safe liquid fertiliser this weekend as well, as well as placed a couple more tubestock shrubs which just came into stock for me at our local native nursery.

The water level is looking particularly low for this time of year...

The sandbags we put in Anzac weekend have hardened up well and stayed in place. The big test will be once we get some heavy rains and the water fills the pipe. Eventually I would like to grow some rock hugging ferns and greenery over the sandbags, both to beautify the area and to provide more habitat.

I put a couple of this Callistemon variety along the banks today. It is known as the Dawson River Weeper, and is a small shrub variety which does well along waterways. The flowers are bird attracting as well :)
